The only thing NAT is used for is the initial download and install of packages via yum when I am configuring a new vm. And I set the hosts file on all vm's to block usages of the NAT to reach any corporate resources. I have VBox installed on my company-owned workstation, and use only 'hostonly' and 'nat' adapters, so the VM is completely off the corporate network. What you want to do, and seem to be prevented from doing, is something you probably shouldn't be doing in the first place. If I were your network admin, I would be pretty upset if you were able to connect your personal laptop to the corporate network. VirtualBox Bridged configurationEdit shutdown the VM open the VM Settings dialog go to the Network page select Adapter 2 tab tick the Enable Network. In bridge mode, a virtual machine can communicate with the host. Start VirtualBox and see if the 'Failed to open. Host-only networking performs the combined functions of bridged and internal networking modes. Right-click again on VirtualBox Host-Only Adapter and choose Enable device. Note: If you see here more than one VirtualBox Host-Only Adapters, uninstall all of them and reinstall Oracle VM VirtualBox. I can also connect from the laptop using putty, mobaxterm etc.Clue: The Laptop is not part of the corporate domain.What would the reason be for the inability to connect to the guest from the laptop when plugged into a corporate network and the network address does not conflict with any other device on the network? Under Network adapters, right-click on VirtualBox Host-Only Adapter and Disable device. When I plug my system into my home office lan I can connect from another pc to the guest on the laptop. Normally I use a bridged and a host only adapter. The guest o/s's are Oracle Linux 6.9 and 7.3.
